Sinem Albayrak

Sinem Albayrak, born and raised in Aarau, decided to pursue a career in dentistry and graduated from the University of Basel in 2016.

After her dental studies, she completed her PhD training at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry at the Yeditepe Faculty of Dentistry in Istanbul, where she was able to deepen her specialist knowledge and gain significant clinical experience as an assistant dentist. After completing her PhD training, she was employed as a lecturer at Medipol University in Istanbul. She gave lectures in English for the bachelor's degree program in dentistry and was responsible for the student course and the coordination of the 2nd degree program. In the field of reconstructive dentistry, she successfully treated and provided prosthetic care for patients requiring fixed (tooth or implant-supported crown-bridge prosthetics, adhesive prosthetics) and removable reconstructions (complete prosthetics, partial prosthetics, hybrid prosthetics) with complex initial situations and high esthetic demands. In addition to her specialization in reconstructive dentistry, she has valuable experience in the development, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oral and maxillofacial pain.

 

These include bruxism and myoarthropathies, whereby both medical and psychological causes such as stressful situations can be involved. Bruxism is an unconscious grinding of the teeth or clenching of the jaw both during the day and at night, which leads to the classic clinical symptoms of myoarthopathy. These include pain in the area of the jaw muscles and/or the temporomandibular joints as well as restricted mobility of the lower jaw, which is accompanied by clicking and rubbing noises. The Michigan splint is used as a therapy in combination with other treatment measures such as physiotherapy, drug therapy and psychotherapy.
